Burnout VFX Unreal Material + Niagara Fluids Smoke
Creating realistic soft body physics can be a bit of a challenge when it comes to maintaining smooth gameplay performance. So we have to use some tricks up overcome those limitations!

In this little showcase, I’m excited to share my work on capturing the burnout effect of a drag racing tire.

The core concept is straightforward: we just need to rotate the UVs of the tire wrinkles normal map but modify UV rotation by a radial (donut) gradient.
Adding Niagara smoke VFX and some procedural modeling as a bonus to bring it to life!
